David enjoyed a long-term successful career in banking with Bank of America and First Charter, where he became a Registered Investment Advisor. David was appointed by the governor to serve on the North Carolina Department of Transportation Board, and he also served as the chairman of the Charlotte Planning Commission. His hard work garnered him the “Longleaf Pine” award from the Governor’s Office of Citizen and Community Services. It is among the most prestigious awards presented by the Governor of North Carolina and is most often presented to those North Carolinians who have given extraordinary service to the state.
While living in Charlotte, David purchased a second home in Western North Carolina and spent every possible opportunity here over the next 20 years enjoying his favorite activities. Eventually, David made WNC his primary home and began his real estate career. His career in banking is a definite advantage to his real estate clients. David puts his financing expertise to good use when guiding clients with their commercial real estate needs, from leasing to acquisition and disposition of commercial investment properties.

David Hughes is a southern-born-and-raised native of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas Tech University on a full athletic basketball scholarship and earned a BS in Economics and Finance. His extracurricular activities included a strong leadership role in Kappa Alpha fraternity. David enjoys seeing new places, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Russia.
David’s hobbies, interests, and lifestyle are totally in tune with the rhythm of mountain living. He is avid backpacker and hiker, having backpacked/hiked in 34 states including Alaska. He also enjoys riding his Harley Davidson on the beautiful scenic roads of WNC. In the summer of 2005, he rode across the USA from Oregon to North Carolina in support of the Kyle Petty Charity, which sends children with terminal illnesses to Victory Junction camp in Randleman, NC.
